And then there were 3...

It's an absolutely beautimous day here in Northern California! Oh happy sunshiney day!

The poppies are in bloom, the sun is shining, the air is warm with a bit of a nice breeze. What more can a person ask for?

So I finished the third square last night, we barbecued, and a good time was had by all. It didn't seem that this third square took quite as long as the second one did - the first one seemed to fly in.

This isn't exactly the best take-along knitting project. I have a bazillion colours of yarn that I could possibly use, and of course I don't want to limit myself by bringing along only a couple of colours. Each square has the possiblity of using 18 different colours. Though I've doubled up on a couple of the squares, and of course I'm trying to keep the red in the centers consistant.

So here's a close up of the squares with the narrow strips in cool colours arranged so that they meet in the center. I love the starlike effect that this gives. It really gives me a lot of incentive to make more squares. I just get so pleased with how each new element adds so much. I know - I'm easily amused.

And here's a close up of the squares arranged in another configuration - with the warm - wider strips in the center - giving the illusion of a circle... When the quilt is all put these two elements will be interspersed throughout... so there's my motivation for actually finishing it.

So I figure it took me a week to finish off these 3 squares. If my endurance holds out at this pace it will be done in 12 weeks. Must knit more...

Have fun everyone! And if you're working on a log cabin - I'm loving seeing some of the different variations of other knitters out there in blogland... I love patterns like this where the possibilites are just endless...

Well now, my Log Cabin seems boring all of a sudden, compared to yours! I did some knitting on it yesterday evening, but the logs are getting longer. I'm sorry to have only 6 colores in all. Looking forward seeing more of yours. How many squares are you planning on making?

That is coming along sooooo well! Keep tracking on it--there will be someserious knitting envy in the blogging world when you post a PO picture of that.

I'm with you on the joy of spring...we've finally got it here in WA and the flowers are gorgeous!

Looks really good! May have to make one too, but from left over yarns.

Yes, I've just read that you are using stash too. I've got leftover Sugar and Cream from the M-D dishcloths - maybe I'll start with that. You wouldn't happen to know who started the M-D Knitalong, would you?
