We're getting put back together

There's still a lot that I need and want to change in the living room, but I promised pictures... so here goes.

I took these last night, and the flash kinda did funny things with the colors - it looks more blue in these pics than it really is.

These are the shelves that the boys put up. I'm far from done with these - but it makes a nice solution for my daughter's computer (thank goodness for flat screen monitors)... I still want to buy or find some nice, pretty storage boxes to throw junk and clutter into - but it's a start. I've also found a bunch of blue vases at a thrift store near my work that I really think I'm going to pick up for cheap, and put up in this area as well...

I still can't believe how nicely the bathroom door came out - I painted it! And it's not totally wonky - don't even ask me how I managed it, it wasn't easy, and I'm still not even sure.

Here's the door to my room, I'm really going to get a new dresser in the place of the one on the right as soon as I can. It's not ideal - but it's the only place I can figure out where to put Boo's clothes for now.

You can see the top of my Joy sticking up in the bottom of the picture - I just have my roving draped over the flyer - I dyed it a while ago, and just realised it's superwash merino! Thank goodness for this blog - I don't know how in the world I'd keep track of my projects without it!

OK - what's next? Oh the windows came out nice too. I have to razor blade the extra paint off the windows still, but that's pretty easy, and won't take too long. I wanted to make sure that everything was really set nicely before I did that - it would totally suck to take any paint off the actual frame by mistake!

You can see my Wings o'the Moth shawl nicely draped on the back of the couch. Nice to just be able to pull it off and snuggle with it when I get cold. To the right are my Fangst (that's what Ikea calls them anyway) I have 4 of these puppies hanging up in that corner, just about filled to bursting - so full that they have tie wraps holding them together, the velcro straps that they came with just can't take the weight.

And last but not least - this is basically the view when you walk in the living room. The other couch just has a denim slip cover, and my Comfort Shawl draped over it. Darn kid threw his shirt on the couch when I wasn't paying attention. That was such a big reason that I started this whole adventure, but on the whole, it is so much better than it was. The candles on the coffee table look a bit messy - but they're not really. The Coke can, well, that's just par for the course at my house. It's small. It's funky. It's mine, and I actually really like it here.

Isn't it great to have a general overhaul from time to time? Lets hope the kids don't mess it up again, right away! ;o) It's looking real nice, Abi!
