New button...

I got an e-mail on Friday from a company called Shared Book, who is trying to put together a little program to be able to print your blog into a book format... I was naturally a bit suspicious, but thought it sounded like a cool idea, so e-mailed them back ( just to make sure it wasn't totally spam), received a reply which sounded reasonable enough, and went ahead and uploaded the Shared Book widget thingy that's referred to over there on the left sidebar. I tried it yesterday, just got a bunch of error messages - which I passed along to the company developing said widget. It's under development, and the software guys are in Israel.

I got up this morning, the widget is gone. I think that the unveiling is supposed to be very very soon, and hope that they are all up burning the midnight oil - drinking lots of coffee and getting it up and running. I wasn't really expecting much - I'm an "alpha" user (meaning that I'm the first batch of people even trying this thing). Beta should be launched in a week or two. I just have to say that I was really honored that they chose my blog to use for the alpha user testing. I was told that the criteria was a nice mix of text and pictures. Which I have to say, I think I've got going on over here.

Anyway - sorry I've been so quiet. Just been totally over the top busy with the new job... Haven't really gotten much knitting that I want to show off together just recently.

The Krista Tee:
I think it might just need sleeves and a good blocking - but I'm disappointed (more with just how it works on my general body type, and hoping I could get away with doing it without sleeves than anything else).

I've also decided to frog the start of the Handsome Triangle shawl, I have decided that I really don't like lace patterns which are considered "true lace" - patterning on each side. I need that purl back row for my sanity. I also really don't like the 4 stitch spine. I will instead turn the yarn into the F&F Comfort Shawl from www.knitting-and.com

The Rosebud's Request is still where I last showed it, though I have spun up another 8th of the yarn needed. I'm still not so sure if I don't need to rip out the work that I have done already and do it in the biggest size, or if it will just work out. I'm also really not looking forward to doing the rest of the Rosebud's (fiddly things!) that I might just go ahead and rip anyway!

And I've got umpteen spindles going - or at least it seems like it - a chinchilla blend on my Spindlers Choice; Optim on my Copper Moose American Beauty; Handdyed soysilk on my other Copper Moose American Beauty; silk wook blend on the little Linum; Oh, and some April Blizzard from Abby Franquemont on my Emily spindle. This is unusual for me, for while I am no stranger to having umpteen projects on the needles, I usually only have one carry-around spindle to take with me and work on.

I'm still feeling scattered and a bit out of sorts, the new job is getting to a point where I almost feel like I know what I'm doing most of the time - but two weeks ago, got pushed off onto other bigger projects, which meant that there was a couple of days there, where I just couldn't get any of my regular work done. Now I'm finally feeling like I've cleared the backlog, and hopefully will be able to just stay on top of things as they come in. But whew - it's been hard!

The kittens are getting awfully big - and very cute!

Love the blog2print idea. I have been wanting to print my blog but there has never been an easy way to do it. Keep me posted.

Is the Krista Tee a pic of what you've done or what you'd like to knit? Real lace is a pain, you are so right with the purl row, very necessary! ;o) The F&F shawl will look wonderful with your yarn, I think it's made for this. I think it's a great idea too, the blog printing, don't know if I would do it, but one never knows. Your kitties are so adorable. Are you going to keep them all? Hope your job eases up on stress a little! Oh, and just reading your spinning list makes my head spin too! ;o)

Thank you for being one of the first bloggers to test our Blog2Print Widget Abi. Our developers have definitely been burning the midnight oil -- they made several updates over the weekend. After a quick re-install, the button should be back on your blog, and working!

I'm sooooo confused! Where did the Krista Tee come from?? I don't remember reading about this before!

Oh so is that it? Is purling back the defining thing as to whether something is true lace or not? I've always wonder the determining factor was.

I'm going to steal one of those kitties.

I have yet to try "true" lace and definitely feel that a purl row may be needed.....

Hey Abi - just wondering what you were up to. I'm sure the new job is keeping you totally busy but I'd love to see a knitting update. You never fail to inspire!

Hey, Abi. Thanks for the tip. I was actually thinking that I'd have to ply up that baby stuff anyhow, or spin by holding little bunches together for a blend. It's going to be a learning experience, either way!

Hey you! Hope you're doing well and not a) buried under a pile of work or 2) being held captive by adorable kittens who want to play all day long! Okay, #2 sounds great.

I just nominated you for a Rockin Girl Blogger award - cause you do!

Hope all is well - need new kitten pics!
